classical music scene.
Classical Paris profiles the vibrant world of Paris’s
classical music scene as it is now and as it has been in
centuries of musical legend.
Classical Paris programmes include exclusive interviews
with top international classical music celebrities, topical
classical music reports and information, extracts from great
musical masterworks written about Paris, and features about
France’s legendary musical history including snapshots
of great and sometimes controversial musical events of the
past.
Just a few names of the many artists speaking in person
on Classical Paris are: Roberto Alagna, Cecilia Bartoli,
Pierre Boulez, Jose Carreras, Natalie Dessay, Angela Gheorghiu,
Viktoria Mullova, Vadim Repin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Gil
Shaham, Dame Joan Sutherland and Maxim Vengerov.
And they will be accompanied by a number of great musicians
from the past whose legendary performances in Paris and
France are also profiled on the show: Sir Thomas Beecham,
Maria Callas, Feodor Chaliapin, Boris Christoff, Emil Gilels,
Herbert von Karajan, Yehudi Menuhin and Sviatoslav Richter.
In addition to this, Classical Paris gives information and
reports on topical classical music events in Frnace and
sets the scene on the many great operas, ballets, symphonic
and instrumental works that have been written about this
country. There are also features bringing to life some of
the great and sometimes controversial musical events that
have taken place in Paris’s vibrant musical past.

on the only commercial French radio station broadcasting
