tHe Paris live story
The idea to launch an English radio station first came to Duncan in 1994 during a brief visit to Paris. It wasn’t until the end of 2001 that the project started in earnest - now scheduled to go live to air on May 11, 2004.

“When I first started to live here I was shocked that I couldn’t find any English radio in Paris,” he explains. “I didn’t speak much French and I just wanted to find out what was going on in the city. Now I can change that.”
The last two years have been spent assembling the team of 30 journalists, technicians and marketers from all over the world and securing and building the PLR studios at Cité Veron (92, boulevard de Clichy, 75018) around the corner from The Moulin Rouge.

“We were very lucky to find such good studios,” Duncan explains, “We’re right next to the Moulin Rouge and in the heart of the Paris live music scene, close to such great venues as La Cigale, Elysée Montmartre, La Loco and O’Sullivans by the Mill. It helps us as we try to bring the best music in Paris to our listeners.”

The PLR team of international and French talent includes Australians, Britons, Americans, French, Swedes, Japanese, Indonesians, and Egyptians. The Breakfast Show (7am-10am) is hosted by Angela Carrington and Paul Vincent whose show aims to ‘get people out of bed with a smile and get to work with ease’. Natasha Black and Robbie Nock co-host the drive time show Afternoon Overdrive. Robbie Nock, a Welshman, describes the show as ‘three hours of great music, tomfoolery and Parisian tidbits all crammed into a three hour time slot’.
After 10 PM the station veers away from playing ‘Only Hit Music’ as the Downtime team bring on the ‘late night sounds of the underground’ from 10pm till 1am.

The news team will ensure PLR’s commitment to breaking stories, “we are dedicated to bringing our listeners the news of the day in Paris and France as well as the international news that affects them at home. With news on the hour and half hour we will become the must listen hourly news source of English-speaking Parisians”, says Duncan.
