Tremplin in French literally means trampoline and this festival tries to give a bounce to the careers of up-and-coming new musicians. The Tremplin Jazz of Avignon was severely affected last year by strikes from the �intermittants de spectacle�, but this year promises to run smoother than a Mile Davies riff. Make sure not to miss the cine-concert with Eric Truffaz�s quartet (a brilliant French contemporary artist) playing the soundtrack to Ozu�s �Gosses de Tokyo�. The festival is also a competition, the winner receiving a recording session in a studio and a chance to be the headlining guest for next year�s festival. |
