30 Masterpieces of Islamic Art
from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

"The most spectacular object is without question the large enamelled and gilded glass bowl, produced in a Syrian workshop in the 13th century. It is a magnificent example of the technique of polychrome enamelling and gilding developed in the Islamic East from the late 12th century. This object is shown alongside one of the masterpieces of the Louvre's collection, the large metal vase created for an Egyptian sultan in the mid-13th century, and formerly in the collection of Pope Urban VIII (Maffeo Barberini)."--Source: Louvre website.
